National School Lunch Program Participants Increase

USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service’s Direct Certification in the National School Lunch Program: State Implementation Progress School Year 2010-2011 estimates the number of school-age Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program participants certified for free school meals was 16 percent higher at the start of the 2010-2011 school year than it was at the start of 2009-2010.
